Animoto Curriculum Video

The video I have created using Animoto I plan to use to introduce my students to the rules of lab and lab safety. Throughout the year as we do labs I will also reshow this video to give my students a refresher about expectations. I like how easy it was to create and the fact that I can upload the media into google classroom so that my students have it as another resource in their collection. Animoto is a tool that could easily be used by both the teacher and students in a classroom. Students could create their own videos about what they know about a topic at the start of a unit. They could also create videos as summative assessments to show what they have learned over the course of a unit. This would also be a good tool for students to use at the beginning of the year to create 'get to know me' presentations. Teachers can use Animoto for a ton of different things as well. They can use it to create content videos for a flipped classroom. It could also be used to make reviews of ...

Web-Based Tool Reflection

The web-based tool I chose to investigate was Canva. I really like all of the options of resources that are available through this site. They have so many resource templates for an individual to work with across the topics of social media, events, marketing, documents, order prints, education, personal, and video. The section I focused my time on was the resources found in education. Canva offers templates for lesson plans, schedules, infographics, posters, brochures, and more in this section. You pick what you want to design and are set to go. The site is easy to use with so many free tools and more tools available if you chose to get a subscription.  This resource can be used in the classroom in multiple ways. Teachers can print off stylized class schedules to hang up in their room. They can also create their own posters for topic within a unit. The lesson planning templates are cute and would be easy to use and leave for a substitute teacher. Students could even use this tool to...

Blended Learning Article Reflection

I agree with the findings of this article. Blended learning can do so much to enhance a classroom for students. It is a way that students can be challenged to reach standards but in their own personally guided way. This type of differentiation is what teachers strive to do for all students but when it is just them face to face with students it is a lot harder to reach all of the different needs of all of the students at one time. When students work on an online curriculum they are offered this differentiation in their own personal areas. They get to learn the material at their own pace but at the end of the day every student has been able to reach the same outcome of the lesson. When blended learning has been used in a study of a 6th grade math class this type of learning has proven to show overall growth of content for all students within the subject. It even allowed students who were behind to get caught up to grade level concepts. This type of learning could impact all subject class...

Welcome Introduction

Hi, my name is Hanna Warak. I am in my second year of teaching and currently teach 7th and 8th grade science at Valley View Middle School in Elkhorn, Nebraska. During some of my free periods I also help out with different math support classes in our building. I went to college at Wayne State for my Bachelor's degree in Middle School Education with a focus on math and science.      I have been using technology the entire time I have been teaching. I am lucky enough to have a multitude of technology devices to use in my classroom through the district as well as our students being one-to-one with Chromebooks. I am constantly finding myself growing and pushing myself to learn more about technology and use it in new and exciting ways for my students. I am a PC person mostly since this is what the district issues us to use but in my personal life I do have an iPad and iPhone so I know a little bit about Apple products. In our classroom I ...
